Tribunals

There are many tribunals which exist across Canada and Ontario.  If you have a grievance with the government or your employer, often times a tribunal may be an appropriate venue for your case, instead of, or in addition to Court.  For example, many individuals are entitled to Canada Pension Plan when they retire, and in the course of a personal injury case, it may be necessary to pursue Canada Pension Plan Disability.  CPP – Disability is a strict test which often must be corroborated by expert evidence.  The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT), deal with compensation for workers injured at work.

The key to each of these various tribunals that exist in Ontario, is to understand each of the processes, and effectively advocate before the adjudicators who come from all walks of life, as opposed to Court appointed Judges who are former lawyers.
